PR PASS Workshop has been invited to share its field experiences with community-based evaluation during a virtual brown bag lunch organized by the Office of Policy and Analysis at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The panel discussion will be led by Dr. Laura Gorbea, an applied anthropologist who has led several evaluative studies developed in collaboration with the communities participating in the studies. Dr. Gorbea will address decisions made in three different projects when determining the use of participatory methodologies. Navigating theory and practice, she will also discuss the contribution of community residents to the ultimate goal of each project and how planning program monitoring and evaluation using a participant centered focus has the potential to advance rapid institutional learning that helps make services and programs more effective in reaching and serving target audiences. The discussion will also feature the reflections on the process from past community collaborators, Damary Pagán and Frank Aquino. Economist Dr. Antonio Fernós joins the discussion to offer insights on the rigor, reliability, and experiences with rapid dissemination of research.
Following the discussion, the PR PASS Workshop will offer a hands-on workshop focusing on the use of participant stories throughout the monitoring, evaluation, and learning process. Topics to be covered include:
- Stories of Most Significant Change
- Outcomes Harvesting
- Documentary Theater (Verbatim Theater)
